I rarely ever post on this blog anymore, but I was overwhelmed with a truth today that I have to share.
Here is the truth: Risk is the only way I truly feel alive and make progress. When I shrink back and live average, I lose my soul!
This verse jumped out at me:
1 Samuel 19:5 David RISKED his life when he killed Goliath the Philistine, and the Lord won a great VICTORY for all Israel.
Basically, victory only happens when you are willing to take great risk. David didn't play it safe to win a great victory. He risked his life in order to win!!
We have to do the same!
Over the last few weeks I have had to take several new faith steps loaded with all kinds of risks. It has been scary, kinda badass, and a whole lot of fun!
The result is that I am the most alive and happy I have been in a long time! I love my job! I love my family! I love my work. I love all the changes! I love being stretched. I am excited to get up in the morning! And, most importantly, I feel like I am seeing victory!
My risky faith steps are the way I make progress!
So I make a vow today - whatever risk I believe God wants me to take, I will take it.
Shrinking back in fear steals too much from my soul. Avoiding giants is actually worse than being beaten to death by them. Only by embracing the battle do I feel alive. The status quo is more soul sucking than failure.
So - I will do whatever God asks so that I can feel fully alive. Risk is the key to victory, or at least the key to feeling alive!
Now I have a few questions for you:
- Will you join me?
- What risk is God asking you to take?
- What crazy faith step has He been telling you to attempt?
- What Goliath has He been leading you to knock down?
Go for it! Risk it! Life is too short to stay safe and bored.
